What's in my diaper bag?
Updated: Jan 24, 2024
During my pregnancy I had tried to prepare my diaper bag and looked for lists of what other mothers put in theirs. I didn't feel like I found very good lists, so hopefully this can help!
First things first when answering that question: which diaper bag?
Yeah, I know that sounds kind of silly but trust me, you won't want to lug around a big, heavy and full diaper bag for every outing. But you may want that bag ready to go for certain trips. I will just switch a small bag (think little Ipsy bag) that has my wallet, panty liners, spare key, and chapstick between my bags.

Small bag for short trips
This bag will have:
about 3 diapers
a small pack of wipes (water wipes comes in a compact package, or you could use those plastic little travel boxes)
clean gallon bag for yuckies
a lace scarf as a nursing cover
a toy
a pacifier
a burp cloth
a protein cookie for me
a water bottle
hand sanitizer
This works if you are breastfeeding, you don't need to carry any feeding supplies!
Car Bin
This makes it possible to bring just the little bag with you and still feel prepared. In here I have:
5-6 diapers
pack of wipes
butt paste
changing pad
hand sanitizer
2 onesies for the baby
shirt for mom and a shirt for dad
toy
pacifier
water bottle

My big bag
This bag I would take with me when I would go somewhere without knowing for sure how long I'll be there or if someone will be watching him for me. In this bag, I bring:
about 5-6 diapers
pack of wipes
butt paste
clean gallon bag for yuckies
blanket
burp rag
hand sanitizer
changing pad
2 onesies for baby
toy cleaning wipes
2-3 protein bars
baby tylenol
nose sucker
Teething gel or tablets
tiny sample size baby shampoo
8oz bottle of pre-made formula (not that I mixed, that I purchased like that so it doesn't expire quickly)
bottle
As for the hospital, don't bother with diapers or wipes. Utilize the ones the hospital provides! Ask for a little extra before you leave too.
Tell me, did I miss anything? Anything you'd leave out or add in? Of course this is for just one baby, it'd look different if you have multiple children!
